Ph. P. day [Taken from Live Spaces Blog, 08 julio 2005, 0:34]

My friend Douglas came home today at 9 to help me install and configure the Apache server, PHP script, and MySQL. I'm spoiled, Windows style, used to double click a file and pressing the "Next" button, letting the Installer do it all. On the other hand, Douglas has some experience with configuration files and hacking... he knows how to tweak stuff into working.
After downloading, installing, failing (slowly and painfully), rebooting, and uninstalling five or six different versions for each component, while we learned MySQL syntax the hard way, he finally made it work at about 15:00 in the afternoon. Wasn't exactly record time, but it's working pretty well. I learned quite a lot, too. At least I can now say I know what PHP actually IS. The same goes for APACHE.
I drove Douglas home on a car without registration papers, almost got stopped by the cops (whew!), began testing PHP syntax, and learned how to do an email form and a submit button. Good for me. I'll try to learn some more right after the blog.
THX to Michelle and Douglas... I owe you two. :)
