My records show that it's been 30 days since I wrote anything here. 30 days... let's see... what's happened in 30 days? Oh yeah!!
Fast summary: I've been going to college, taking 3 courses. My sister who lived in Chicago ran (well flew) away from home back to Guatemala and hid from her family for like 2 weeks. I got into the gym and am doing daily exercise. I already, practically, got my B.S. degree. I'm going bungee-jumping this coming tuesday

.
Now comes the long, detailed section:
Well, I've been taking my last 3 college courses this semester: Administration, Artificial Intelligence, and Professional Project II.
Administration's a good class... the teacher's kinda cool, the content's pretty neat... too bad we get like 3 assignments each week: it's the most time-consuming course I'm taking.
Artificial Intelligence is just plain funny. The teacher actually ASKS us what do we want to learn, how do we want our grades to be distributed, WHICH projects do we want to do... I find it hilarious. He DOES knows what he's talking about, but he knows that many of the students' goal's not really to learn, but just to pass the course. So he obliges
. A real breeze... I've spent about 2 hours a week on this course.
Now Professional Project II is annoying. Professional Project I was about going to Campero for 5 months and being involved in some project during that time. Now, for PPII, I've got to do a thesis-style report on the project I was involved in. It's mainly about writing petitions, getting people to sign them, paying at the register for my official course certificates... boring stuff like that. Right now I'm supposed to change the TITLE of my report... they say it's too long.
Like what do they care? And just for that, I've got to go back to Campero to get my ex-boss's signature. And THEN file the petition again to wait for their response. A real bore.
These three courses make me go to college 3 days a week: MTW. My week-ends last 4 days now(TFSS), which gives me lots of free time
. Me like.
Aside from that, on July 26th, my sister Alicia ran away from my aunt and uncle's house in Chicago. She just disappeared one day, left a note
, and didn't say where, with whom, or how long
would she be gone. The logical conclusion was that she had come back to Guatemala (she always talked about wanting to come back, and besides her boyfriend
lives here). But she didn't contact anybody... no emails, no phone calls
, no nothing. She just disappeared. Of course, my parents freaked out. My mom made and directed an extensive investigation to find out where my sister was. Her boyfriend
refused to collaborate, so my mom went to the police station and accused him of kidnapping my sister. My other sister, Elisa, called all the people that Alicia might be staying with. But there were no traces of her. The only hint was that Alicia's boyfriend was obviously lying when we asked him about Alicia.
Well, after many days
and many emails
, Alicia finally sent us an email
and called us
. I persuaded her on the phone
to get together with someone to discuss about how things were, cause her "loss" was really becoming a health hazard
for my parents, a real time-consumer
for me, and constant gloom
all over the family. She agreed to meet me, but only me, at a certain food court. She arrived EIGHTY MINUTES LATE. When she finally arrived, I told her how things were. The conversation was ambushed midways by my mom... she got there uninvited, and hugged my sister, and told her lots of things I don't know about.
And now she's living here in Guatemala again. I don't know what she's planning to do yet.
And I'm also going to the gym... one near the house... very complete and not so extremely fancy as to make it extremely expensive. Q250 a month it is. (And I skipped the inscription fee because of my membership 5 years ago
) This week was my third week already... I've been pretty constant til now. And the best thing of all: IT HAS A SWIMMING POOL!!! A wish come true: an indoors, nearby, swimming pool. I'm so happy
.
And according to my college, I now possess what it takes to have a B.S. degree. I put the papers in about 2 weeks ago, and my graduation is on September 1st. Cool, huh?
The thing I'm MOST excited about it right now is THE BUNGEE JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!! A bungee jump's been organized here in Guatemala... at a big old bridge called El Naranjo. It's on Tuesday August 15th, coincidentally also a national holiday, and it costs Q200
. It's kinda expensive, but hey, there's not a chance to bungee jump every day!! I'm trying to make other people jump too, but many say they're scared. Too bad for them.
And I've got other plans too... I want to learn stuff I haven't had time to practice before, stuff I like. Languages, music
, and arts
(that includes the martial ones) are high on the list. I also want to get MSDN certified. It'll sure help to have that in my CV if I ever want to get a computer-stuff job.
And this is the end of this long, milestone-style blog.
