My own hero [Taken from Live Spaces Blog, 16 febrero 2006, 18:01]

• Are you waiting for someone to come into your life and save you?
• Do you expect your very own miracle to occur one of these days, the great opportunity for a change?
• Do you think you'll have your true chance to prove yourself, and that then you'll put your whole self into it, and then your life will be JUST RIGHT??

I did. And I imagined some kind of Matrix scene, when I'd meet someone who actually KNEW SOMETHING WORTHWHILE, and I would choose the red pill and enter the REAL WORLD, and do IMPORTANT STUFF, while the rest of the world still lingered on their own pitiful ignorance. Or a sudden unique opportunity to start traveling ALL over the world, and learn the things I've always wanted, living happy and carefree for as long as I wanted.

And I believe many people think this way too. And so we wait, day by day, month by month, for something. And there's always the next.

And the next.

And the next.

And then we realize that there's no such thing. What the heck are we made for, if not to take care of ourselves??? To shape ourselves, guide ourselves.

I'm made

to TRAVEL the path I always think about, to LEARN the knowledge that dazzles me, to ACQUIRE the skills I admire in others. To FIND my place in the world. To SHAPE the world as I will.

And then I ask myself...

Why have I not done so?

I must learn to be my own hero.
