I have a question. Engineer is english for Ingeniero...
The word Ingeniero comes, presumably, from the word Ingenio, which means wit, cleverness, intelligence, capacity to solve problems and stuff.
The word Engineer comes, presumably, from the word Engine, as in the motor that converts thermal energy to mechanical work.
So my question is... what is the ethymological origin of the word, in both languages?
Well, I think I found the answer. Here's a quote from the site mentioned below:
"El término latino l’,Ingenium (Anc.Fr:engin) tiene dos sentidos: el de “disposición natural del espíritu genial” y el de “invención”. A estos dos sentidos, el latín medieval añade un tercero: “cosa inventada”.
