Netconomics & Stuff [Taken from Live Spaces Blog, 21 septiembre 2006, 12:11]

The purpose of this blog is not so much descriptive as it is informational: for all future readers, let this day be remembered as the day, Oh the day, the Memorable and Glorious Day... when I, Me, Antonio, finally ACHIEVED NETCONOMIC POWER.
Oh ok, I did my first online economic transaction. With money, you know. $5.95 to be exact. I got a 1-month membership to HotOrNot, just as trial, and hey it worked! I'm pretty happy about it. Now I'm able to do and get stuff I was only able to wish for before. Ebay shopping, Amazon shopping, DELL.com, ACM memberships, lots of other memberships, online stores all around the world, international bank accounts!! The net is the limit!
My real goal was to get a Paypal account, since it's so popular and practical and centric and all... but apparently, they don't like Guatemalan residents as account holders. I think I can pretend living in the US, hmmm, but if they happen to call the home number for confirmation, nah, doesn't work. But I WILL get it SOMEhow.
So, in the near future, when I execute batches of hundreds and thousands of transactions a day, this blog will be witness to the $5.95 membership transaction, (Order # 532748) on the 21st of September, 2006, at about 0430 hours (GTM -0600), that started it all!!
:D
In other news...
  • My sister Alicia's back in Chicago, going to college and doing stuff again as if nothing had ever happened (she flew away from home for about a month in July/August). She lived with us here in Guatemala until the final days of August, and then just left. The family's really upset about all this... I don't know what's gonna happen.
  • I left the gym. Not forever, of course, I just didn't pay right now in September so I could have time to do all the "mandatory" stuff first. So I haven't been swimming since September 1st, but I plan to get back to sweating and pumping muscles right on October 1st. Or maybe the 2nd, since the 1st is a SunDay.
  • I graduated with a B.S. degree! Hehe, how's that? That happened on... Friday September the 1st, 2006, at about 18:00. (The ceremony began at 17:00, but I got there late because a big bad bus scratched my vehicle on the front side (it was going in reverse), and cause my family members are SO unpunctual. I had to sneak in from the back of the auditorium (actually, basketball court), and I was called to the front after all the speeches and conclusions had been made. It was kind of funny).
  • I went bungee-jumping on August 15th!!!! As planned . What a ride! It feels SO STRANGE when you're ready to jump... it's like I had the intention of jumping in the back of my head, but my body and mind tell me, together, SHOUT at me, to NOT DO IT. Just before jumping, I had the sensation I was just giving it all up... quitting on life! After that, gravity took control, I had a 2-second blackout, and I don't remember a thing. Next thing I know, I was already bouncing back up cause of the bungee cord, screaming excitement all around me. It was not like I thought it would be, but it's DEFINITELY worth a jump.
  • Courses at college have been OK. PPII (Professional Project II) is the one I worry about now. Bidkar's really on to it, he's already put 40 pages together! I'm still on the 10-count, but I'll get on it! (After I stop procrastinating, doing stuff like THIS BLOG).
  • MSDN certification status: Not achieved yet. Not even started. I'm waiting to get some useful documentation beforehand... hope to get it real soon.

That's it. Final months in Guatemala slip through time, I hope I manage them really well so I can do all I want to.
