The definitions of
what is good and what is bad
shared by the human race,
the values we take from granted:
that help is good
and violence is bad
and plenty is good
and stupid is bad,
they are factors emergent.
But they are assumed to be absolute
because among the aeons they have taken
to distill out of the countless
efforts, trials, failures, celebrations, and strifes
of the evolutionary pilgrimage,
our historical memory is but a static dot
within the long, long unfolding of
our good and our bad.
