Hunger

Hunger is the primal drive of the human animal. It is the embodiment of purpose in the physical realm. The manifestation of desire is hunger.
Hunger for food and water and sex at the level of flesh.
Hunger for attention and approval at the level of the emotions.
Hunger for knowledge and novelty at the level of the mind.

If satiation is reached,
the drive dissipates,
and impulse stills.

If long appeased is hunger,
the streams of desire and action turn sluggish
stagnate one by one
and run the risk of coagulation
clogging up their channeling pipes.

"stay hungry. stay foolish"
said Steve Jobs one day.
I see and feel the reasoning
for half of what he said.

Perhaps then once one finds satiation
of a long-held desire
and the lag of force begins to be felt

instead of simply stagnating
and waiting to feel hunger of the same
again
one can look around, pay attention
see what the world is and what it holds
see what one is and what it feels
how it feels
and perhaps find new twinkles and sparkles
subtle, unnoticed before
within our feelings and outside our skin
that can stoke subtler hunger
and continue to lead us further
once more.
