Do we move
from the specific and material
to the subtle and abstract?
Do we learn the one two three four
to cognize the unending number line?
Do we imagine splitting pies into equal pieces
so that we may realize unending precision?
Do we discern traits between plants and animals
each color, shape, function, preference, ability, expression
to map out the wide expression of life
and the principles that power it?
Do we practice truth and kindness
so we may feel the lightness at their cores?
Do we practice dance, song, and arts
so through it we may find and see what underlies it
what is behind it
who begets them?
If it is light that causes brightness
yet we realize the former only via the latter,
which is the cause and which the effect?
Is a cause truly before the effect
or are they, like gusts of wind,
just simultaneous dance partners
in the wholesome web of life?
Do we practice giving
so we may participate in the pervasive web of flow?
Do we practice striving
so we may know what it is to reach?
Is effect the necessary child of cause?
Or cause that of effect?
What distinguishes each one?
